Inside the elevator was an older gentlemen who punches the floor number for each employee so they don't have to put their key in the hole themselves. my guess is that's a 30-40,000 salary that with all the cuts already done- wasn't on the chopping block?????

is there anything to justify thisAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4833750991063411284.post-83461111609548293312008-11-19T00:45:00.000-08:002008-11-19T00:45:00.000-08:00i think you guys should go directly to the unions ...i think you guys should go directly to the unions and negotiate some kind of deal - maybe lower wages for increased pension benefits down the road when the economy is in better shape that will compensate sufficiently to pay to retain jobs? Kind of like a deferred payment. Have the unions put it to a vote and let the co workers decide.(Pretty much what congress did to obama - saddled him with so much debt...)
maybe if the union agrees to reduce benefit limits - like covering up to XXX they could lower it to a sum that will result in savings that will save some jobs. at least on a temporary basis - how many times does an employee actually max out their benefits anyway?
what are our legally mandated limits on county liability insurance? Is it something we can reduce - seems we end up paying out of pocket anyway. Are these sums on required reserve or just best practices reserve? Tap the funds.
borrow against what's left in the undistributed child support fund - create an insurance policy in case anyone comes forward with a claim to prove we can cover it - but use the funds or a loan against the funds (they'll never, ever be claimed - it's almost ten years old)
are the car repairs deal bid out? or another "appraisal" kind of deal for the sheriff - i'm constantly seeing engels (?) getting all this money to fix a cop car - what's up? Hire a body guy or put it out to bid as a package instead of per unit which is probably below the competitive bid threshold.
......Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4833750991063411284.post-82074670269540356572008-11-16T10:29:00.000-08:002008-11-16T10:29:00.000-08:00Why even bother? The Commissioners and County Administrator have already made up their minds and no amount of community input is going to save the jobs of 882 county employees.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
